Run Interviews
TL;DR — Open Interviews from the sidebar to see My Interviews — the bookings where you're the host. When an interview is happening right now, an Active Interview card appears at the top with a Join button. After the interview, click Evaluate to score the candidate against the rubric your admin set up. Keep your availability current under Schedules so candidates can book the right slots.
Before you start
- Requires: Member role. Interviewers in BrightStep are users invited with the Member role — admins assign you to interview event types from a campaign's stage settings.
- You'll need: at least one campaign whose interview stage has you on the host list. If your Interviews sidebar entry shows nothing, you haven't been assigned yet — ask the campaign's admin.
Open My Interviews
From the sidebar, click Interviews. The page heading reads My Interviews — view interviews where you are the interviewer.
The page has three zones:
- An Active Interview card at the top, only when an interview is live right now.
- Two tabs (Upcoming / All) listing your bookings.
- Row-level actions per booking — Join, Evaluate, view details, etc.
The Active Interview card
When the current time falls inside the start–end window of one of your bookings, an Active Interview card appears at the top of the page. The card auto-refreshes every 30 seconds, so it'll show up the moment a booking starts and disappear when it ends.
Click Join on the card to open the interview directly. Use this when you have several bookings on the same day and want to jump straight into the one happening now.
Upcoming and All tabs
Below the active card (or at the top of the page if no interview is active), the table is split across two tabs:
| Tab | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Upcoming | Bookings still ahead of now, sorted nearest-first |
| All | Every booking you've hosted or are scheduled to host — past, present, future |
Each row shows the candidate name, scheduled date and time, the campaign, status (Confirmed / Cancelled / Completed / No-show / Rescheduled), and the row actions described below.
Join an interview
For video and hybrid interviews:
- Find the row in the Upcoming tab.
- Click Join (or Join Interview from the row's action menu) — available 30 minutes before the start time and during the booking window.
- The interview room opens in a new tab.
If the Join button shows Not available, you're either too early (more than 30 minutes before the start) or too late (after the booking has ended).
For in-person interviews, the booking shows the Location Address in the row details — open that on the day to confirm where to be.
Submit your evaluation
After the interview ends, the row gains an Evaluate action.
- Click Evaluate on the row, or open View Details and click the evaluation button there.
- The Submit Evaluation page opens. The form lists every criterion the admin defined in the rubric — for example Communication Skills, Technical Knowledge, Cultural Fit — each with its scale (e.g. 1 to 5) and weight.
- For each criterion:
- Pick a score on the rating scale.
- (Optional) Add a short comment explaining the score.
- At the bottom of the form, pick a Recommendation:
- Strongly Recommend
- Recommend
- Neutral
- Do Not Recommend
- (Optional) Add overall comments.
- Click Submit. Your evaluation is recorded against the application and visible to admins and campaign managers.
You can re-open and Edit Evaluation later if needed — the form opens prefilled with your existing scores.
You only see criteria the admin marked relevant for this stage's rubric. If a criterion is missing or feels wrong, talk to the campaign admin — rubrics are defined per interview stage.
Set your availability
Candidates can only book interview slots when you're available. Keep your weekly schedule up to date so the booking experience reflects reality.
- From the sidebar, open Schedules.
- Edit your default weekly schedule — set start/end times for each day, and toggle off any day you don't take interviews.
- Save.
Specific date overrides (e.g. I'm out next Friday) are managed from the same page through date-specific exceptions.
The schedule applies to all interview event types you host. If you need different hours for different campaigns, talk to your admin — that level of per-event-type customization is a separate setup.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Interviews sidebar entry shows an empty list | You haven't been assigned to any interview event type yet | Ask the campaign's admin to add you on the Manage Interviewers page of the relevant interview stage |
| Join button reads Not available | More than 30 min before the start, or after the booking ended | Wait until 30 min before, or check if the interview was rescheduled / cancelled |
| Evaluate action missing on a row | The interview hasn't ended yet, or the stage has no rubric attached | If it ended and you still don't see Evaluate, ask the admin to attach a rubric to the stage |
| Rubric is missing a criterion you expect | Rubrics are defined per stage by the admin | Ask the campaign's admin to update the rubric. Your existing scores stay |
| Candidates can't find slots that match my availability | Your weekly schedule doesn't have the right hours, or there's an overriding exception | Open Schedules, check your weekly hours and any date-specific exceptions |
| The Active Interview card doesn't appear when an interview should be live | The card refreshes every 30 seconds — wait a moment, or refresh the page | If still missing, the booking may have been cancelled — check the All tab |
